Prisons Week 2024 runs from 13th – 19th October.
This, in a nutshell is what we believe, how we work together and what we do. If you're new to Prisons Week this is the best place to start.
Prisons Week is a leading example of the broadest expressions of the church working together for a common good.
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Mark 16:15
Featured Sponsor – Difference (RLN) Navigating a divided and complex world can be hard. We encounter this our relationships, in our communities and in our wider systems and structures. Many of us long to make a difference, but often we don’t know how to respond or where to start. This is why Archbishop Justin Welby has brought together leading practitioners and thinkers to create the Difference course. Through a series of 5 interactive sessions, this course equips you to cross divides, navigate disagreement and pursue a just and flourishing world. Drawing deeply on Jesus’ encounters in the Gospels and the wisdom of expert peacemakers, Difference teaches three habits that have the potential to transform everyday relationships: Be Curious Listen to others’ stories and see how the world looks through their eyes. Be Present Encounter others with authenticity and confidence. Reimagine Find hope and opportunity in the places where we long to see change. Difference groups have run in churches, homes, universities, gardens and prisons, with a simple format of listening to stories, an interactive activity and time of prayer. The content is distinctively Christian, but anyone is welcome to take part. It is designed for both large and small groups, meeting online or in-person. We are particularly excited to partner with Prisons Week for this years’ campaign as we will be launching a prisons version of Difference in May this year. We have had really encouraging feedback from chaplains who have running the Difference course in prisons, who have shared how it is enabling prisoners to discover new possibilities for forgiveness and find new hope in areas of division. This is a growing area for us and we want to intentionally join with the inspiring organisations who make Prisons Week happen.
